Hawaii's beloved green sea turtle, growing up to 45 inches long & weighing as much
as 400 lbs by the time it reaches maturity at 25 years, has a heart-shaped gray-brown
shell. Only the body is green.
Honu means "green sea turtle" in Hawaiian.
According to legend, Kauila, the "mythical mother" of all honu, could change herself
into a girl to watch over the keiki playing at Punalu'u Beach on the Big Island. The
HonuHeartTM design was inspired by the ancient Hawaiian lava petroglyph of a turtle.
The heart center symbolizes the spirit of Aloha and the power within.

SUGGEST A NEW DESIGN IDEA TO PEGGY
|

Jewelry designer Peggy Waterfall's first visit to Hawaii was a true awakening. Spending time on the Kona
coastline, she found herself entranced by the sea turtles basking on the beach and swimming gracefully
in the bay. After 23 years as a design engineer and manager for a Fortune 500 information technology
company, Peggy decided to move to the Big Island of Hawaii and begin making jewelry. "When I moved to
Hawaii," she says, "I named my jewelry company HonuHeart Designs. 'Honu' means 'green sea turtle' in
Hawaiian. I have since created a complete line of unique and original images inspired by the beautiful
Hawaiian Islands. Each one incorporates a heart in the design to symbolize the Aloha spirit."
Peggy designs all of her jewelry in her Kailua Kona studio and uses lead-free 925 sterling silver in every
component of her work. Each piece is handmade in the ancient method of lost wax casting and then hand-
polished for a brilliant shine.
Look for Peggy's maker's mark, “HHD,” as your assurance of exceptional workmanship and original design.
